Compulsory Teaching Religion in School

We live in a multicultural country and a large percentage of the Australian population have a religious background, live or work with people of religion our children should have knowledge of the religions they will come into contact with.

As part of our children’s education and preparation for assimilation into adult society they should be given a thorough grounding in comparative religion.
A grounding in the Bible, Koran, Book of Mormon, Dianetics, and Buddhist teaching
They should be given awareness of Catholic mass the Vatican, Mormon prayer 5 times a day, Temple bell being rung in Japan as well as what live was like under Catholic rule in the 17th Century and Taliban Rule as well as the Soviet Union communist rule. These could be compared with modern day life in a secular democracy.

It would be fun for the children to discuss these issues, play with a Scientology E-meter, see how and incense burner worked and prayer wheels. Compare the monkey gods of Sumatra and the Christian God on a Cross and the blood sacrifices in the Aztec world.

It would also be useful for children to be educated on the circus tent ethics of Benny Hinn Peter Popoff and Hillsong style ministries.

This would give the children a better understanding of our society values, ethics and morals and may give them better value Judgement for their future religious lives.

Give our children the tools to live better lives in a multicultural society.
