Afternoon Of The Faun

what’s up doc?

Hey all - I had a wonderful weekend so thought I’d share it. Q actually had a few days off and we decided to stay in Canberra rather than race down to The Haunt as we usually do.

Saturday we went out to Fsywick and the Fresh Food markets - I think they’re better than the Belconnen ones. The patisserie is rather good. Then we went into town and The Canberra Centre for a spot of shopping. Most enjoyable.

Sunday found us in Bungendore at the Odana Galleries to enjoy the Norman Lindsay etchings exhibition. They’re just wonderful. I love Norman Lindsay and have a few of his prints. I indulged myself and bought a facsmile etching of “Afternoon of the Faun”. It’s a rather sensuous little number and for under $300 it’s a good investment. I saw a few others I wouldn’t mind owning if I’d not been on a tight budget, maybe later perhaps. I’ll try to put up a picture of the etching soon. Bet you’re jealous !!

Sunday night we went to Tilley’s Devine Cafe to see Jane Rutter and David Helfgott in concert. It was Fan-Bloody-tastic to say the least. David caresses the piano when he plays and it’s an extension of his personality. Between pieces he caressed Jane as much as humanly possible and she was very kind to him as she shook him off. I have a new appreciation for the piccollo now that I’ve heard Jane Rutter play it. She’s wonderful. It wasn’t cheap at $75 per ticket but it was a great experience.

I’ve still got the flu so that’s 11 days and still no end in sight. Still the cough and now a runny nose. How charming you say - well you try to work with a death rattle and runny nose and tell me how lovely you feel. On top of that my hair needs dyeing - the tide is out and it’s not pretty. Wonder what colour I’ll go for this time - maybe a rich brown might be nice.

Bon Soit all

Thors Day

I’m at work. Of course I’m here - it’s pay day. I guess my job isn’t as bad as some people, I have a modicum of job satisfaction, so there’s no use whining.

I could do with a nap. Have the flu at the moment, there seems to have been something virulent in the jab I got last Wednesday. I’m not the only sick one here.

Phlem phlem everywhere.

Hello World,

Nell here. This is my little world. A microcosm of all that is “out there”. I’m currently sitting in my study surrounded by my text books trying desperately to get out of studying for Uni. If I pull my finger out and do the required work then this term will see me with a major in Archaeology. How cool is that?? Mind you, that would put me half way into my degree - only 3 years to go…
I’ve raised procrastination to an art form.

No matter how hard I tell myself, no matter how much I enjoy the subjects (this term I’m doing forensic anthropology and public archaeology) the mind just doesn’t seem to want it as much as the flesh. Perhaps I need a cracker up my bum, just like my dad used to suggest. Smart man my old dad.

Today is Saturday. I’ve been up to the chiropractor - Dr. Nick. My back is giving me the shits so totally and it’s all because of my shoulder (doing backstroke), which is because of my newly found rheumatoid arthritis… this body is just an annoying lump of blah. I don’t think the english language has words to describe how it’s feeling at the moment or how I feel about it. Appalling is a good word.

So I’ve been diagnosed with RA for about 4 weeks now. I’m taking Plaquenil which is apparently also useful for malaria. I think it’s my hands that I’m having the most problems with. They just won’t perform like they used to and ache like I’ve slammed them in the car door. It’s totally giving me the shits.

My other half, Q, is in the other room listening to the internet radio. Infidelguy.com - it’s pretty cool really. www.Freethoughtmedia.com - he loved to listen to the christian bashing radio, and I do too. You’ll hate me for this, but really, christians really annoy me. I used to be much more accepting of other religions but now I’m really getting bigoted. BTW - I’m an athiest with a slight pagan / heathen leaning. I’ve belonged to a couple of groups but now consider myself to be a solitary practitioner of my own path - rather eclectic.
My first post on this new blog. Q keeps updating the software so it’s hard to tell how long this will last before he loads something new and my post disappears from the ether.

Adieu
